NOW start those sprinkler systems.

Did some of you jump the gun starting your sprinkler systems up too soon? I almost did – ignoring the folk wisdom that “we always get a frost right before Easter.”  It  is easy to get drawn in. The big box stores start putting their plants and grilling stuff out, the pollen is falling like snow, and so many days that feel like beach days. But, it is important to limit watering until the average temperature get up there and stay up there.

Late and early season watering is not good for your lawn.  Without the summer sun to dry the lawn during the day, the continual dampness allows disease to establish.  This is especially true in poorly drained soils. We don’t too have many areas like this East of waterway, but you folks in Plantation Point, or Gumbo Land as I now call it, take note.

The Old Farmer’s Almanac (http://www.almanac.com) puts our last frost date at March 16 and Clemson at March 17. USclimatedata.com  shows daily high temperatures averaging above 70 degrees late this month and into April.

So, now is the time. And to help, Blue Wave Irrigation is discounting system start-ups. Sprinkler system start-ups are $50 until April 15th, 2017 if you mention this post. Give us a call to find out more.
